History of women on bikes: Bedford, Nova Scotia

I love this photo.

I moved a lot growing up, from Northern England to Newfoundland at the age of 4 and then New Brunswick for grade 5 and Nova Scotia starting at grade 6.

Bedford, Nova Scotia is the closest thing I have to a hometown. I lived there from grade nine through to the start of university.

I’ve spent many hours driving and busing, though never biking, along the Bedford Highway between Bedford and Halifax. It’s a pretty trip on a winding road with the harbour off to one side.

Here the “highway” looks a little more bike friendly!

An aside: A reader has contacted me looking for photos and memorabilia of women’s in London, Ontario, where I live now. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.
