The CBC interviews focus on the benefits for older adults. Walking backwards can help older adults improve balance and avoid falls. It also helps with strengthening ankles, knees, and feet.

Retroambulation. From Copilot?? What a great word. I sometimes retrorun, which someone told me once is good to balance out the body somehow. I do it when my hamstrings are feeling tight and when I need some levity in my run!
