Happy Penguin Day to you too! Today, January 20th, is Penguin Awareness Day, which focuses on educating people about these unique birds and their threats. Pengions are such special creatures they get two special days to celebrate them. World Penguin Day is celebrated annually on April 25th to mark the start of penguin migration. Both days aim to highlight the challenges penguins face from climate change, pollution, and overfishing, encouraging support for conservation efforts to protect them.
We’re fans of pengiuins here on the blog. We like penguins so much that Mina chose “penguin” as her Word of the Year.
Sarah and I had a terrific time watching penguins in New Zealand. We saw both Little Blue Penguins and rarer Yellow-eyed Penguins, that live on and around the Otago Peninsula.
