“May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.”
Day 1 of the Big Joy Project involved listening and repeating the Dalai Lama’s favorite prayer.
It ends like this:
For as long as sentient beings remain
(For as long as sentient beings remain)
Until then
(Until then)
May I too remain
(May I too remain)
To dispel the miseries of the world.
(To dispel the miseries of the world).
I liked it and enjoyed repeating the lines of the prayer.
You can listen to a CBC interview about the Big Joy Project here. Matt Galloway on The Current, “How ‘micro-acts of joy’ can nudge you toward happiness.”
“It can be hard to find happiness in the world these days, but the Big Joy Project asks people to engage in little acts of joy every single day. Project leader Emiliana Simon-Thomas explains the science behind giving people a daily nudge to making their own happiness — from doing something kind for someone else, to taking in the beauty of the natural world.”
