Conquering the Darkness and Charging all the Lights

I’m one of those people who really minds the lack of light that marks Northern winters. The only good thing in recent years is that I’ve gotten better about acting early–bringing extra light into my life–before the pit of despair that is grey and dark November in Ontario rolls around.

I blogged here about how much a gentle start to the day matters to me. Yes, I’m a morning person but I like to get up with the light. Now that autumn is here, that’s not happening. Today sunrise was at 6:55 am but my alarm clock goes off the in dark at 6. Tonight I ride my bike to 7 pm physio after work but I’ll be riding home in the dark. Sunset is at 7:41 pm.

I also suffer from Seasonal Affectiveness Disorder (SAD) and find that light therapy lamps help.

So that’s at least three kinds of light I bring into my life for the fall. This weekend and this morning, I started to get all the lights organized.

ALARM CLOCK

HOME LIGHT THERAPY LAMP

BIKE LIGHTS

Bike light charging station at my office, with a bonus flashing red light incase I forgot to charge everything in time

OFFICE LIGHT THERAPY LAMP
