So the big news is I hit 200 workouts so far this year. My goal is 400, and it’s the middle of June. I’m right on track, even allowing for some slow down over the holidays and while traveling.
Was the 200th workout anything exciting?
No, it was not.
It was what I’ve sort of been calling my everyday triathlon. That’s my short bike commute to work, knee physio exercises at home, followed by a dog walk.
My personal way of counting workouts is that long dog walks and long bike rides count as workouts on their own, but the short everyday ones all get lumped together as one workout. I add in the knee physio exercises to remind myself to do them everyday.
This triathlon is also three of the five things in tracking using my new habit tracker.
Here’s my bike commute this week in my snazzy convocation blue Fluevogs.
Here’s a daily dog walk.
And home physio usually involves the TRX hanging between the living room and the dining room for squats.
Do I wish #200 had been something big and splashy? Axe throwing, a long bike ride, lifting weights? Not really. It’s been the everyday stuff that’s gotten me through recovery from knee surgery. For a while it was physio in the clinic twice a week. I’m down to one now. There’s been regular personal training as well.
It’s all chugging along, but I am hoping for some fitness excitement this summer. In August, there’s the Pedal for Parkinson’s Ride and my birthday 60 km for example. I am still hoping for a fall canoe trip as well. But the everyday stuff doesn’t feel boring.
Amid three convocation ceremonies last week and am overseas conference next week, everyday exercise is just fine.
