Site icon FIT IS A FEMINIST ISSUE

Leaving the university gym for now

So when I had my first knee replacement surgery to help with recovery I joined a fancy gym with aquafit. At the time I thought it was temporary. Even though it’s where most of my university faculty colleagues go, I’ve always liked campus fitness centres and working out among the students.

Ten months later and two knee surgeries behind me, I’ve decided to stick with the fancy gym and cancel my university gym membership.

What’s prompted the move?

Partly it’s that the world’s best personal trainer has left the university gym. She’s moving. Sigh.

I’ve also been enjoying the older clientele at the fancy gym. I like not being the oldest person in the room.

They have a better aquafit schedule including water yoga which I really enjoy.

There’s hot restorative yoga there too.

And I’ve been wanting to try their spin classes as well as the anti gravity yoga classes (update, I tried that last week and loved it.)

I’ll have to go before work or after work but I think I can manage that. It’ll also be nice to go on the weekends which I never did when I was working out at the university gym.

I’ll let you know how it goes. A change can be good right?

Wish me luck!
