This NSFW Photo Series Is Allowing People to Love Their Bodies Again
Artistic curiosity surrounding the naked body has existed for centuries, and a recent nude photo series featuring a diverse group of people proves that the human form still can still be used to make a powerful statement.
The series, which was created by a California-based photographer Anastasia Kuba, has received lots of praise and sparked ample discussion online for encouraging others to embrace their bodies after struggling with self-acceptance issues. It has also been lauded for revealing the raw body image experiences and challenges of a broad range of individuals, and not just people who fit stereotypical cultural ideals of beauty.

Jennifer, a mother of two and breast cancer survivor, came across photographer Natalie McCain’s The Honest Body Project, and wanted to participate. The project, which showcases intimate portraits of mothers’ bodies alongside narratives about their lives, aims to empower mothers to feel good about their bodies and help instill body confidence in their children. Jennifer wanted to represent a specific group of moms — those who are battling, or have survived, breast cancer.
The Vulva Gallery Wants Women To Know That Body Diversity Is Beautiful
According to illustrator Hilde Atalanta, “all vulvas are amazing and beautiful just the way they are.”
Atalanta would know ― she is the digital proprietor of the Vulva Gallery, a collection of illustrations that celebrate the vulva in all its glorious diversity. She is also the gallery’s primary artist; all of the portraits showcased on a dedicated website and on Instagram are hers.
